Guides
A spec sheet tells you a lot, but not everything. What does a SCOP of 4.5 mean for your electricity bill? How many kilowatts can an EV charger really deliver on a single-phase supply? And how much of a home battery can you actually use? These guides explain, category by category, how to read the figures, which values are genuinely comparable and where manufacturers use different test methods.
They also cover what applies in the UK: the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, MCS 020 noise rules for heat pumps, the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations and the zero rate of VAT on qualifying energy-saving materials. Rules and grant amounts change regularly, so every guide shows when it was last checked, and numbered footnotes link to the official source so you can verify each figure yourself.
The guides are independent: we do not promote brands or rank anything by commission. Where it helps, we work with the models in our own database, for example how many chargers come with a tethered cable. At the end of each guide you will find links to the comparison tables and selections for that category, so you can go straight from the explanation to specific models.
